bluesign® Approved Fabric

Patagonia has worked with bluesign technologies since 2000 to evaluate and reduce resource consumption in our materials supply chain, and to assist us with managing the chemicals, dyes and finishes used in the process. bluesign technologies, based in Switzerland, works at each step in the textile supply chain to approve chemicals, processes, materials, and products that are safe for the environment, safe for workers, and safe for the end customers.

In 2007, Patagonia became the first brand to officially join the network of bluesign® system partners.

Any fabric you see that’s bluesign® approved offers the highest level of consumer safety by employing methods and materials in their manufacture that conserve resources and minimize impacts on people and the environment.

Weatherproof

2.5-layer H2No® Performance Standard shell fabrics are completely waterproof, windproof, breathable and highly packable for backpacking, alpine climbing and backcountry skiing. They combine a water-repellent shell fabric with a waterproof/breathable membrane and a protective top coat barrier without needing a protective lining fabric. A raised print layer is applied to decreased layering friction and increase moisture management.

2.5-layer H2No® Performance Standard shell fabrics are coated with DWR (durable water repellent) fabric finish that repels light rain and snow. In conjunction with a waterproof/breathable barrier, the DWR finish keeps the outer fabric from becoming saturated so that the breathable barrier can do its job.

All products bearing the H2No mark have been vigorously tested for durability in our 24 Killer Wash.

Men's Torrentshell Jacket is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 117.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect in a wide variety of conditions Great in the rain - no seepage like some lesser made rainjackets. Also provides good wind resistance and I often wear this over a base layer in cold or snowy conditions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing light rain jacket I love my jacket. It's kept me dry in all kinds of rain the last few months. I typically run hot and this jacket is perfect. It's so light and breaths well and super easy to pack up for storage. My favorite jacket I've owned by far.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great jacket I'm tall and appreciate the longer length this one seems to have.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Jacket doesn't hold up This is my 3rd torrent. I love the jacket but the inside rain liner tends to peal off no matter how gentle the care is.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good overall I like this jacket a lot. The material seems durable and looks sleek. My only complaint is that the sleeves are too long.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Zipper grabs fabric every single time. Aside from the zipper catching the fabric every time which is hugely annoying, the jacket is pretty good.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great Price, Great Fit, Not 100% Waterproof First off, I'm the biggest Patagonia fan and have stuck by their gear for a while now. Everything has been super tough and lasted years of hard use. Which brings me to this review. I'm only on my second season of wearing my torrent shell and I don't actually wear it throughout the winter, so I haven't used it for a full year yet. When the rain really starts to come down I still get wet around my belly. Also some of my contents in my pockets get a bit wet too. So, it appears the zippers aren't really waterproof. Other than that - the fit is great for us tall lanky folk. It's still a tough coat, easy to move in, great price. Just doesn't seem to keep my torso fully dry when the rain starts to come down hard.
