You’ll find a feast of left-handed barrels, but charging Irish storm surf asks for serious commitment and equally serious warmth. Made from durable 3mm and 5mm neoprene, the R4® Split Toe Booties keep the winter cold at bay until it’s time to head in for dinner and a pint. Lined with hydrophobic, fast-drying low-pile recycled polyester micro-grid, they feature a split toe and heel lock for maximum dexterity; the split toe is externally wrapped for added warmth, and an asymmetrical wrap construction holds close to the foot for a secure fit. Fine-grip rubber soles provide increased traction and performance, and a reinforced rubber wrap on the outside and arch protects your feet. Z-Strap closure locks the foot in place for extra support; a PU-laminated cuff tab and a pull ring at the heel make them easy to get on and off. 3mm bootie cuff reduces hydraulic lift around the ankle, and seams are internally taped to prevent leaks.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Walls from Sizing was way off! I usually wear a men's 5 woman's 6-6.5 so I purchased my size accordingly and the booties were basically children's size. I stopped by the store in Ventura and they exchanged them no problem and even resized the straps for my small feet. Thank you Patagonia and Andrew for the awesome booties.

Rated 5 out of 5 by andventurejo from Great for Pacific Northwest Surf I found them to run small but other than that I found that the quality was very good and they kept me warm.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Archer from Warm feet I have been surfing the Pacific NW for 23 years. Finally, my feet are warm. Love the ease of putting on and taking off. Looking forward to those long days when the surf keeps me in the water for hours.

Rated 4 out of 5 by QSurferQ from Bomb-Proof, but a little small I bought both the R5 round toe and the R4 split toe, and from the reviews I read, supposedly they ran small in the fit. Normally I wear a 10.5 athletic shoe and 10 bootie, so I figured id try my size - 10's. They were too small. my big toe was firmly pressed up against the front of the bootie. Selling the 10's and ordering 11's instead. Other than the fit being off, these things were great! Plenty warm for a mild winter here (only down to 38 deg). Feet stayed dry until after several duck dives.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Oldcolonial from OK, but expected to be warmer. Took these boots out today for their maiden voyage in cooler conditions - water in the high 40's, air in the low 30's. I had hoped that they would serve as a replacement for the 7mm boots I use when its really cold. They just did not do it in today's conditions and I do not believe they would work when the water temperature drops into the low 40's. Pro-s - Light flexible neoprene, nice wool lining, good grip on bottom and very nice board feel for a thicker boot. Cons - Stap is too short to attach securely. I have low volume feet and it just barely reaches the attachment point for me. If you have wide, high volume feet it won't reach. Also, they run small, I needed to size up one full size. I don't know if this is the case for the current model. In short, these are OK but not up to the usual Patagonia standard of excellence. Note: I have the 2013/14 model with wool lining.
