bluesign® Approved Fabric

Patagonia has worked with bluesign technologies since 2000 to evaluate and reduce resource consumption in our materials supply chain, and to assist us with managing the chemicals, dyes and finishes used in the process. bluesign technologies, based in Switzerland, works at each step in the textile supply chain to approve chemicals, processes, materials, and products that are safe for the environment, safe for workers, and safe for the end customers.

In 2007, Patagonia became the first brand to officially join the network of bluesign® system partners.

Any fabric you see that’s bluesign® approved offers the highest level of consumer safety by employing methods and materials in their manufacture that conserve resources and minimize impacts on people and the environment.

Fair Trade Certified™

We pay a premium for every Fair Trade Certified item that carries our label. That extra money goes directly to the workers at the factory, and they decide how to spend it. The program also promotes worker health and safety and social and environmental compliance, and encourages dialog between workers and management. Fair Trade is one of the first tools we’re using at Patagonia to raise workers’ wages, improve their standard of living and move them closer to earning a living wage.

Men's Cap Lw Bottoms is rated 3.1 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for me As others have mentioned, these do run smaller than your typical size. I'm 6' 205 lbs and the Medium fits perfectly - waistband is comfortable, legs are not too tight or baggy. For anyone interested, these weigh 3.5 oz. Not sure about durability as I just got these but wanted to get this review out there mainly for the fit/weight.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best ever I use this article as pajama bottoms and it is unbeatable. This is the second pair I have used in this manner.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Usual high Capilene quality but runs large These seem larger than usual - unexpectedly baggy for a medium. Consider going down a size if you are a typical medium build.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Just what I needed Got these a few weeks ago for touring and they work great! I always get ridiculously hot on the climbs so I was looking for something really lightweight and these fit the bill. I gave them four stars simply for the fact that I don't know how long they'll hold up.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor material, lousy fit. After using lots of Patagonia products over 25 years I have never been disappointed until now. The Capilene program continues to slide down from what was once the best base layer available on the market. Specifically, the new fabric used on this rendition of lightweight Capeline does't wick moisture very well, is cool to the touch and doesn't provide what I would consider a bi-component fabric where the inside is different from the outside to foster wicking moisture away from the skin. The fabric essentially has no elasticity to it so not only does it not provide contact for wicking but the design doesn't seem to account for the lack of elasticity so it is very bulky in a lot of areas. I would guess the template pattern from previous renditions of l.w. Capilene were used on this fabric contributing to the poor fit. I have never returned something to Patagonia before, but I didn't hesitate sending back both the top and bottom after wearing just once. My overall experience with Patagonia products in the past leaves me confident that this is a rare experience unlikely to repeat itself. Please bring back the older L.W. Capilene!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disintegrates with light use Feels great, wicks for cycling, hiking, walking in winter, love the soft waffle hand to the fabric. But after a 2.5 hour walk--the crotch/inner thigh area basically disintegrated--3 huge holes and runs. I wore them under fly-less, pull on, Sportek pants with soft fleece inside. What's the point?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Performs as promised Very comfortable with gusset and wide waistband. Capilene is an awesome fabric - wicks great and drys fast.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from poor overall performance Extensive testing for a few weeks hiking and camping. Material got sweaty and stayed that way. Made me cold and clammy until it dried. Took forver to dry on my body or hanging up. Poligene odor control was nonexistent. Expected a lot more from such a high end company. Returned for full refund.
