Recycled Polyester

In 1993, we adopted fleece into our product line made from post consumer recycled (PCR) plastic soda bottles. We were the first outdoor clothing manufacturer to do so. PCR® clothing was a positive step towards a more sustainable system – one that uses fewer resources, discards less and better protects people’s health.

Today, we’re able to utilize more sources for recycled polyester and offer it on more garments such as Capilene® baselayers, shell jackets, board shorts, and fleece. We now recycle used soda bottles, unusable manufacturing waste, and worn out garments (including our own) into polyester fibers to produce many of our clothes.

Using recycled polyester lessens our dependence on petroleum as a raw material source, curbs discards and reduces toxic emissions from incinerators.

Insulation

We use PrimaLoft® insulation inside insulated garments for its warmth, compressibility, and soft comfort. While the human body uses energy to stay warm, PrimaLoft insulation uses a patented microfiber structure to help the body retain warmth and conserve energy.

The proprietary ultra-fine fibers of PrimaLoft insulation form a tight collection of air pockets that trap heat from your body and keep the cold out, providing an excellent warmth-to-weight ratio. When insulation gets wet, it loses these air pockets and consequently, its insulating properties. PrimaLoft ultra-fine fibers were developed to be water resistant so your insulation stays drier and maintains its insulating properties even when wet.

Men's Nano Puff® Vest is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 30.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Overall Good But, Tiny bit too long so that it rides up when I sit down and the armholes are too small if you plan to wear anything under it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great vest while it lasted I got this vest as a gift last year and absolutely loved it! The fit is true to size, it's warm, light, packs really well and is super versatile. I only gave it a four star rating because I unfortunately got a pretty big rip across the back of the vest on a trip in Peru. At the time, I wasn't aware of Patagonia's solid return/repair program, so there's a happy local down there rocking one with a taped back! I think my experience was unique. I must have snagged the back on something sharp because I put it through a lot. I hope to replace it soon. I definitely recommend it!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent vest - a daily wearer! I purchased this a couple of months ago, and I have been wearing it nearly 3-4 days of the week since. Between this and the retro-X vest, I think that this is the most flexible, and I wear it with pretty much everything: over a lighter tech fleece, under my cycling commuter jacket for a touch of additional warmth, or even over a bright button-up shirt for something a bit less dirt-bag. :) Definitely well worth the price, and it fits beautifully. If I had any complaints, it's that it's a bit on the puffy side (it's a puffy after all) and I prefer my vests to be a bit more slim in profile - like the Nano Air. For what you're paying, however, this is REALLY hard to beat!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome! But they shrunk it! This is my favorite thing to wear! So light and warm. Looks great. However, beware because for some crazy reason the new version is much smaller. Bought another one and it is way tighter than my current one. I guess I have to hope the next size up fits right? Inconvenient. Not sure why they messed with perfection.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Versatile and Built to Last I was gifted this nano puff vest for Christmas and could not be happier with the fit, comfort, and build quality. It has already served me well in both the office and on the ski hill as a versatile layer. While I have yet to test the primaloft synthetic insulation in damp conditions, I can attest to its consistent warmth. Patagonia continues to deliver!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm and Light This is my second Nano Puff Vest. It fits much better than the first one as it is less expansive across my waist. The vest is warm, light and a perfect extra layer of insulation.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good vest overall, but with a drawback Great amount of heat and wind protection in a very lightweight vest. Not very breathable, but I wasn't expecting it to be. I like the fact that it is mostly made of recycled material. The only drawback for me is the design of the vest. The collar could use more padding to hold up better and feel softer on the chin. It tends to either press back on my neck or chin, or kind of fold down. This makes it less confortable which is a bummer for its intended use (pretty much whenever I am cold) and the price tag. Using a smaller size might have helped with this issue, but sizing down made the vest very tight on me (impossible to wear anything else than a thin t-shirt). In sum, small changes could make this good vest an awesome one.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fantastic vest, just a little tight around waist I've had my vest for almost two months now and I absolutely love it! I usually wear this over a flannel shirt and it keeps me very warm, I often have to unzip it for car rides though as the insulation can get to be a little much if the heat is on. I only wear gear with synthetic insulation, and being a 5'7 male at 130 Lbs with a 30 inch waist, finding the right clothes can often be a challenge. Overall, I love this as an all purpose vest for chilly Vermont weather.
