Men's Oakes Jacket is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome styling and fit. I own 3 I give this garmet a 5 star rating because I love the fit, style and ended up purchasing 3 of these jackets in different colors. I'm 6'5" tall and weight 200 lbs and the size large fits perfect. Not to tight and not to loose. Fits perfect over a long sleeve t-shirt and under a storm parka. Great layering piece. What I like is that it looks great going out for a casual dinner and night on the town and works great for skiing. With owning 3 of these jackets, I won't have to worry if they stop making this garment.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Jacket, Kinda Smelly I got this jacket last month and really like the fit and feel of the fabric (size M for 5'10" 170lbs). My only complaint is that it smells a little funky still after washing and drying - not sure how to describe the smell but other polyester clothes I have purchased online sometimes have a similar smell that goes away with time.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Overall great jacket, bit tight Great jacket. Patagonia has some really solid stuff and the pattern on this jacket looks great! I think the fit is a bit off. It feels just a TAD tighter than what I'd expect from an XS slim fit. This could be something beneficial for others who are more slender in nature!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great mid-layer jacket I love this Oakes jacket. I'm 6'0", 200 lbs with a 33" waste and 44" inch chest. I purchased the FGE in size large regular fit. I use it primarily as a mid layer over a T shirt or turtle neck and the fit is perfect. It keeps me comfortable to a low of about 45 degrees (no wind). My only wish is that the hoodie version was still available but you can't always have everything. This unit works great fly fishing, casual dog walks, and hiking in the spring and fall. Time will tell on its durability - I'll check back in year on that.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great piece--but aware of fit This is a good looking piece, but I am having to return a MEDIUM due to fit. I'm 5'11" and 170 and have a 34-35 sleeve. Usually a medium fits well me well -- shaped without being tight. This jacket runs snug overall, very tight in the arms/sleeves, and long in the sleeves -- at least compared to other Patagonia I've owned. For instance, the sleeves are snug--and they repeatedly jammed my shirt sleeves up my arm when I pulled this jacket on. A bit awkward. In addition, while I have relative long arms, there was a full extra inch piled up at my wrists -- awkward again. So, nice material and execution, but the fit didn't work for me. Good luck on the fit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from versatility and feather weight I recently purchased this jacket as an under layer of insulation to wear under my 1991 purchased shelled Synchilla. Works excellent for that. This Oakes jacket is feather light, yet does a superb job of insulating and warming me up. It's great on its own until the temps drop down into the mid/low 40's. Put something heavier on over it, and i'm toasty. This piece is very comfy and fits me great. It feels like it stretches somewhat for good mobility. When i'm wearing it on its own while biking or hiking, and if i'm getting a bit too warm, i just unzip the side hand pockets, and the chest pocket and that increases the ventilation, and i cool down. if i need more, i just unzip however much. I like the mesh lining, as well as everything else. I, too, actually purchased the hoody version of this full zip jacket. If you can find this version, i highly recommend it, but everything else about it and the non-hooded version are identical. The fit is a "regular fit" so i wear the small, whereas in the "slim fit" pieces, i wear medium to obtain the same fit ... one that is close fitting enough to be a great insulator, but not too snug like a form-fitter. I have room under it to wear more than just a thin shirt if needed, but not enough room to wear a sweat shirt under it. 5'8" 135

Rated 5 out of 5 by from my all-around go to jacket I love this piece. I actually have the hooded version (purchased last year) and love the versatility. This jacket has a great fit that is a touch slimmer than the Better Sweater, but still allows for some layering. I use this jacket for daily commutes in Seattle, along with weekends in the mountains. It performs great as a lifestyle and "technical" option. I decided to pick up a 1/4 zip Oakes because this jacket fits/performs so well. Solid quality and fit. Great work Patagonia.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Jacket! I just got this jacket and it's fantastic. I would say it fits exactly the same as the Better Sweater. Different material though, more like a fleece on the outside. I love the chest pocket, and I like how the Patagonia logo is up on the chest. The striped design really stands out! It is extremely comfortable. I will be ordering a second one shortly.
