The Creative department is a full service in-house agency providing design, editorial, photographic, print, and electronic creative services to develop and maintain The Company’s global visual identity.
The Project Manager for Print Production is responsible for producing projects with high quality, on time and on budget. Working with the Operations Manager and as part of a team comprised of other individuals from the Creative Production team, the Project Manager is responsible for all aspects of the print and copy production.
Essential Job Functions:
o Primary focus to include production of Seasonal POP, Tradeshow and Sales Meeting assets preparation, Retail-marketing materials. Will have a sport category specialization and may have additional print production responsibilities (including look books, mailers, ads, packaging, etc).
o Create timelines, obtain estimates, and track the status of all projects.
o Facilitate and manage the production phase of printed materials, which includes reviewing image and product photos. Always ensuring that the print color is true to the actual garment color.
o Work with photo team to upload final hi-res image to separator, coordinate the delivery of final files to vendors, and schedule color reviews.
o Responsible to ensure final document has been proofed and routed appropriately
o Responsible for the management of project budget. Such responsibilities include tracking all invoices received from vendors to match quotes and ensure that they are within proposed budget parameters. Manage payment and budget reconciliation for all invoices.
o Responsible for all communication to the print vendors in relation to necessary instruction, files, artwork, insert and any applicable bindery instructions. Including the collection of distribution information and building shipping matrixes for all vendors to execute shipping instructions.
o Work with vendor to run tests on paper and color match to assure print consistency.
o Responsible for doing press checks which may include multi-day trips to various vendors and being on press for up to 24 hours at a time.
Other Job Functions:
o Coordinate with various paper consultants in an attempt to research environmentally sound paper buying options. Execute decisions made and coordinate the delivery of paper to print vendor.
o Establish schedule, price and workflow of copy file translation with translation agencies.
o Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
o Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
o Ability to look at a computer screen for extended periods of time.
o Ability to maintain a composed and professional demeanor within a flexible and (at times) noisy work environment.
o Ability to perform repetitive tasks using a computer mouse and keypad.
Minimum Job Qualifications:
o 3+ years of print production/project management experience in a printing or publishing environment.
o Knowledge of color separations (both spot-color and CMYK printing) and file building requirements for projects with four-color and/or black/spot color plate changes on press.
o Ability to be flexible within the job to ensure the best processes/systems for smooth completion of all projects.
o Able to work well under pressure and deadlines. Available to work occasional after-hours in order to meet deadlines.
o Demonstrates initiative, is conscientious and provides complete follow-through on areas of responsibility.
o Ability to work on a variety of project formats, including POP, tradeshow assets, multi-page pieces, etc.
o Excellent customer service skills, in person, on the phone and in writing.
