Photo Documenting 180° South NEW (audio slide show & video) - When surfer, climber and photographer Jeff Johnson traveled from California to Chile in 2008 he was retracing the trip that Yvon Chouinard and his friends made 40 years earlier and chronicled in the film Mountain of Storms. Here, Jeff shares some photos and stories from the journey that will soon be depicted in 180° South.
Hard Sayin’ Not Knowin’ NEW (audio slide show) - Kate Rutherford has climbed rock from California to Alaska to Namibia, but recently found some of alpinism’s finer points – smearing in crampons and placing gear in ice-choked cracks – to be an entirely new story. She and Mikey Schaefer, set a new route on Aguja Guillaumet and, with Dana Drummond, made their way up Poincenot and Fitz Roy.
Freedom to Roam NEW (audio slide show, video & field report) - We continue our call for Freedom to Roam – Patagonia’s current environmental campaign. To further understand this complex issue, we present two specific examples: an aquatic corridor in the Pacific Northwest and the arduous terrestrial migration of the Teton pronghorn.
Lynn Hill at Hueco Tanks NEW (video) - Patagonia climbing ambassador Lynn Hill spent part of her winter bouldering at Hueco Tanks. Says Lynn, “For me, the most relevant factor in my ability to perform well on the rock has to do with my love of climbing. After nearly thirty years of climbing, I still love to do it whenever possible!”
Patagonia Goes Down Under NEW (audio slide show) - In March 2009, after opening the new Patagonia store in Torquay, Australia, a crew from Patagonia Ventura headed out on Wayne Lynch’s 50-foot catamaran Nalukai to explore a few remote waves in Victoria. Patagonia staff photographer Tim Davis sent some of his favorite shots to Wayne for his off-the-cuff take on the trip photos.
Climbing in Namibia NEW (slide show & video) - Patagonia climbing ambassadors Majka Burhardt and Kate Rutherford, along with fellow climber Peter Doucette, photographer Gabe Rogel and filmmaker Chris Alstrin, spent a month exploring the Republic of Namibia for new routes on unclimbed rock and cultural connections with the indigenous Himba people.

Signatures NEW (video) - From the gold leaves of fall to the pink cherry blossoms of spring, Sweetgrass Productions traveled deep into the hardwoods of Hokkaido, Japan for their new film Signatures – 100% human-powered riding in all snow-sliding styles: board, noboard, ski and drop-knee. Pirates of the Flats NEW (slide show & video) - Pirates of the Flats gathered influential anglers Tom Brokaw, Tom McGuane, Lefty Kreh, Yvon Chouinard, Michael Keaton and R. Valentine Atkinson to fish, help with bonefish research and highlight the threats facing bonefish. The ESPN series airs January 2010. Patagonia Sustainable Trails Project NEW (video) - Mud, torrential rain, moving big rocks – it’s all in a day’s trail work. Argentine climber Rolando Garibotti is spearheading efforts to reconstruct badly eroded climber-access trails near Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre in harsh Patagonian weather conditions. This project is made possible by the American Alpine Club and Patagonia, Inc.
