We built the Black Hole™ Pack because more often than not, your day has its own plans. This rugged, highly weather-resistant gear bag protects your belongings when the weather turns surly or your hike morphs into a contentious scramble. The large main pocket holds the lion’s share. An internal padded sleeve protects most 15" laptops or accommodates a hydration reservoir, and a mesh pocket equipped with a key keeper organizes small items. Daisy chain lash points secure a skateboard or yoga mat—a zippered front pocket holds quick-access items. For carrying comfort, the backpack’s padded shoulder straps have load lifters and a sternum strap, or you can carry it with a top-mounted reinforced haul handle. A molded back panel sheds moisture and allows a cooling airflow, and a simple waistband secures the pack. Made from 13-oz 450-denier polyester ripstop (50% solution-dyed) with a TPU-film laminate and a DWR (durable water repellent) finish.

Water Resistant

DWR (durable water repellent) fabric finish repels light rain and snow and decreases dry times. When DWR is used in conjunction with a waterproof/breathable barrier, the DWR finish keeps the outer fabric from becoming saturated so that the breathable barrier can do its job.

Black Hole™ Pack 32L is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 38.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Many things I like/some I don't I've had this bag for around 2 years. There are many things I like: a) the water proofing (I live in London and tropical Singapore) b) the flap on top helps it be very compact but also allows it to expand..I was able to carry almost 10 kg of barley malt from a brew store c) I like the big carry loop on top and the strip of small hanger loops down the back d) I like the elastic on the chest strap e) the top of the computer sleeve is angled which gives less protection but it means that you can pull your computer out from the side zipper. This works well because I like to stuff a raincoat in the folded down upper half as if it were a separate compartment. f) The huge zipper that really lets me open the thing up. Things I don't like 1) the zipper. This seems like such a silly design considering that you they were marketing this bag as something mostly waterproof. Why not put a flap over it so rain can't get it. I haven't seen a whole lot of water come in but I'd rather not chance it. I under stand that an external large flap would make it difficult to fold down but how about a simple double flap (a small one from each side) internally? 2) the headphone wire hole. this gapes open most of the time and it is right above my laptop! could have been simple to add another flap. but actually why is it necessary 3) I wish the straps were a little wider and more padded. 4) the padded bit on my back gets folded over and is very warm. It would be nice if the back were a little more stiff (without a laptop the back pad gets really foldedand if they used a material that doesn't absorb water (isn't this bag supposed to be water proof) 5) I really really wish they had included a strap on the shoulder pads that would pull the bag up higher on your back (I'm sure this has a name). Now, even with moderate loads the bag hangs low. Combined with the wimpy should straps it sort of digs in and hurts. 6) I wish there was another set of compression straps on the sides. things do sit low. this is offset by the fact that the bag is a bit narrower at the bottom, but having some compression could also help to bring the load a bit higher. Outside of barely malt, I really don't carry heavy loads but it would be nice to be able to and even moderate loads don't feel right. yes yes this is just a laptop bag but still it is nice to have a bag that can have multiple uses. 7) another loop like the one at the top on the bottom. it can be helpful to have something to grab. 8) the laptop sleeve could be more padded at the bottom...some people might prefer to have the laptop entirely covered but I do like being able to pull it out from the side. My computer has gotten scratched a bit but I can live with it. maybe there is a way to achieve both but i can't think of one.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Almost the perfect backpack Great size. I already own a 25L Black Hole and the extra 7L really makes a difference. LOVE the side opening. It's almost perfect. However the zipper. Why not make it zip down rather than up. This would make it more waterproof. Currently the zip ends up at the bottom of the pack and it never really seals 100% which I recently found out when crossing a gorge. Otherwise I love this pack.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love this bag Extremely functional and stylish. Not having an outside water bottle pouch was slightly confusing at first, but putting a nalgene in the bottom of the bag is actually a lot more ergonomic I've found. The bottom zipper isn't exactly placed to be pickpocket proof, but they are loud enough it doesn't matter. If you're travelling in a major city outside the US, you shouldn't keep your wallet in your backpack anyhow. I've also found it to be 100% waterproof if used as intended, unlike another comment mentioned.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Commuter Bag This is a great commuter bag. I use it daily on my bike commute to and from work. The bag holds a full suit and everything else I need and fits comfortably throughout my ride. My only complaint is the quality of the buckles and zippers. Within a week one buckle had broken and the zippers dont appear to be of the highest quality. I still wouldnt trade this bag for another, but the craftsmanship could be improved for a 5 star review.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from FN awesome I needed a small day bag for my DSLR and micro drone plus bathing suit etc. I love how this bag zips along the side and too. The roll top keeps my cameras dry. Great size for a casual day excursion. Love the color. Thank you!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Extremely poor design. A big disappointment I can't remember the last time I was so disappointed with a piece of gear. While materials and bud quality are great, the bag simply fails to function well in the real world. Here's why: Not Water Resistant- The poorly designed hydration port allows rain straight into the bag during a downpour. To make matters worse, it leaks right over the electronics sleeve! Wet laptop after the first Vancouver downpour and now I've had to duct tape the hydration port closed to keep it from letting rain in. Unsupportive, uncomfortable- The bag lacks vertical or lateral rigidity which means it loses all shape if you aren't carrying a laptop. Lack of proper compression means heavy items migrate to the bottom, worsening things. The hip belt is a joke for a pack this size and doesn't properly bear weight. Even the torso strap is a major pain to adjust. The open cell foam used in the backpack straps feels cheap and crinkly. The straps are also curved far too dramatically and don't fit like they should. Poorly laid out- No water bottle pocket on the outside. The one inside is on the far side of the pack so your water is stored in quite literally the most inaccessible part of the pack. The pockets aren't well laid out with the internal pockets badly placed on the inside front for periferals. There is a useless daisy chain on the front but no way to attach things to the side or bottom of the bag. Forget carrying a fishing rod tube, picnic blanket, or that wet gear you don't want inside. Not Secure-a slight mishap or failing to close the zipper all the way results in your belongings falling out...great for opening off of one shoulder but the zipper goes too far down. This bag is also a pickpocketter's dream...so easy to access the main compartment. I really regret purchasing this bag. What really stings is that I spent more for a Patagonia bag thinking it would be well designed like all their other stuff. Now I'm stuck with the best built crappie bag ever... Which means it's never wearing out. Really bummed...time to redesign this bag from the bottom up, Patagonia.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from looks compact, fits a lot I like this pack so much I own two of them, filled with stuff for different sports. Swimming and the other for commuting on my bike with laptop. 32 liters. Looks smaller, fits more than I thought.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than I ever expected Bought this for our trip to New Zealand where we would be outside hiking and fishing all day. It was also great as it fits the computer safely for travel. Fits everything I needed, and the style allowed for an extra rode to stick out the top while hiking. The front pocket is roomy and great for easy access to items.
