A good work shirt, like any well-designed tool, makes the job easier and stays out of the way. Built for tough tasks that require a full range of motion through the chest and arms, our new Farrier’s Shirt is made from a sturdy, 9-oz 55% industrial hemp/45% recycled polyester blend. One of the world’s strongest natural fibers, the hemp content provides superior toughness, durability and abrasion resistance; the recycled polyester offers a supple hand and comfort against the skin. The Farrier’s generous collar can be flipped up for additional protection from late-season sun and wind; the traditional button front features four-hole metal buttons. Across the upper back, we’ve built in a box pleat for ease of movement when you’re swinging bales into the truckbed; on the forearms, long plackets with button cuffs allow the sleeves to be easily rolled up. Two button-closure chest pockets have pencil sleeves and are pleated for expandable storage. With a mid-length straight hem, the shirt can be worn untucked for extra ventilation or tucked in to keep any extra fabric squared away. Made with Fair Trade Certified™ sewing.

Recycled Polyester

In 1993, we adopted fleece into our product line made from post consumer recycled (PCR) plastic soda bottles. We were the first outdoor clothing manufacturer to do so. PCR® clothing was a positive step towards a more sustainable system – one that uses fewer resources, discards less and better protects people’s health.

Today, we’re able to utilize more sources for recycled polyester and offer it on more garments such as Capilene® baselayers, shell jackets, board shorts, and fleece. We now recycle used soda bottles, unusable manufacturing waste, and worn out garments (including our own) into polyester fibers to produce many of our clothes.

Using recycled polyester lessens our dependence on petroleum as a raw material source, curbs discards and reduces toxic emissions from incinerators.

Fair Trade Certified™

We pay a premium for every Fair Trade Certified item that carries our label. That extra money goes directly to the workers at the factory, and they decide how to spend it. The program also promotes worker health and safety and social and environmental compliance, and encourages dialog between workers and management.
