Enjoyable book with fascinating observations about steelhead

My favorite type of reading is natural history and I enjoyed this book despite it being a bit too journalistic at times, but I understand that was Mr. Spencer’s approach to writing the book. I found his descriptions of the sensory characteristics of the Steelhead simply amazing. Finally, we need more dedicated people like him if we are to salvage what’s left of our quickly diminishing natural world.

Fascinating journal about Pacific NW steelhead

First of all, I’d like to extend my deepest appreciation to Mr. Spencer and his valiant efforts on the behalf of steelhead conservation. In this journal-like book, he describes his 14 years observing wild summer steelhead in a tributary to the North Umpqua River in SW Oregon along with his trusty dog. I found many of his observations of these amazing fish and the local flora and fauna quite fascinating. Like all other superb books I’ve read, I’ll pass it on to friends for them to read.
