General Summary:

This position is responsible for the general support of the Patagonia Retail Store systems.  This includes the Point of Sale System and all other technology utilized in retail locations, i.e. iPads, Digital Signage, Traffic Counters, Phones, Network, etc. Also included is related systems support at the Patagonia headquarters including aspects of the Back Office systems, corporate network, and the AS/400 as they relate to Retail Store Support. Must enjoy working with a wide variety of people daily, have excellent communication skills, be good at providing remote support over the telephone, exhibit a professional level of customer service, and be very patient with non-system trained store staff.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Retail Systems Support
    • End to end support of POS software, hardware and peripherals
    • General Support of all IT technology in Retail Stores
    • Work with 3rd party IT technology vendors
    • Global file management
    • POS depot services
    • POS help desk
    • Deploy software updates and patches to POS
    • Support authorization and settlement services for daily operations
    • Maintain the nightly polling process and system
    • Deploy PLU updates and Tax updates as required by Patagonia Retail Business group

  • New Store Openings and Remodels
    • Work with the Retail IT team and Retail Business group to determine POS system, back office system, and traffic counter needs
    • Order and deploy new POS hardware, back office hardware, and traffic counters
    • Work with 3rd party vendor to deploy and install POS and back office hardware
    • Possible travel to assist with IT installs at new stores

  • Retrieve lost / not polled data from the stores and prepare for update to Island Pacific
  • Second line troubleshooting of store problems as main help desk to stores
  • Maintain traffic counters and resulting data uploads.  Work with BI team to ensure data accuracy and timeliness
  • Help investigate future retail system options and opportunities - hardware, software, and support
  • Work with other operations staff in providing overall systems coverage as needed
  • Keep the test center for retail systems organized and orderly in the computer room
  • Provide after hours on-call support as needed for Retail Help Desk

Minimum Job Qualifications:

  • Prefer 5 years PC network experience and at least 2 years retail operations and POS support. 
  • Knowledge of Island Pacific sales audit and IBM AS/400 system.
  • Working knowledge of Active Directory.
  • Working knowledge of Windows Server, SQL Server and associated technologies.
  • Exhibit follow through to completion of task or project.
  • Ability to create and write clear, complete documentation of systems and procedures.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills including high degree of attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently or with a team.
  • Willing to help in any way with any job for the benefit of the department.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to keep work areas neat and organized.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills including ability to organize time and work on multiple tasks simultaneously.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift PC equipment
  • Must be able to install network cabling and systems often requiring bending or crouching in small work areas
  • Must be able to work extended and off hours potentially exceeding 8 hours per day
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to look at a computer screen for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to maintain a composed and professional demeanor within a flexible and (at times noisy) work environment.
