Our go-to Black Hole® Duffel. This workhorse organizes your gear and has enough space for a fun hog weekend or a well-organized extended trip.

Read More Close
Our midsized Black Hole® Duffel is highly weather-resistant, stubbornly tough and protects your gear from travel and rough handling. The main compartment opens via a zippered U-shaped lid, which has a pair of zip-closing mesh pockets on the underside for easily lost items like earbuds and a phone charger. A zippered exterior pocket holds all the stuff you need to access quickly. The padded bottom panel adds structure and helps cushion the load when your duffel gets the baggage-handler treatment. Carrying options include padded, removable shoulder straps, webbing handles with a snap closure and haul loops at either end that facilitate linking multiple bags. Four daisy chains let you lash additional gear to the outside. Made from 15-oz 900-denier polyester ripstop (50% solution-dyed) with a TPU-film laminate and a DWR (durable water repellent) finish.

Water Resistant

DWR (durable water repellent) fabric finish repels light rain and snow and decreases dry times. When DWR is used in conjunction with a waterproof/breathable barrier, the DWR finish keeps the outer fabric from becoming saturated so that the breathable barrier can do its job.

Black Hole® Duffel 60L is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 144.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rad Duffels These bags are killer. I purchased a 60L and a 90L for hauling my gear around since I travel pretty constantly for work. They pack well and can take a beating - good sturdy construction, light for its size and durability.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointing quality I love the functionality and size of this bag, but the first time I used it the plastic type fabric got damaged. I flew to Europe and took this bag as a carry on. Unfortunately, there’s three deep gashes in the fabric now after light use. I’m pretty upset the quality of the fabric wasn’t better and can’t stand up to light travel and careful handling.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Last travel bag you will ever need Quite simply, this is the perfect travel bag. My favorite features are the backpack straps and carryon size. The room allows for 3-5 days of clothes, plus small gear. Xoxo Patagonia!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Holds everything and then some! I purchased this bag because I have been looking for a decent carry on that is also durable enough for the Alaskan outdoors. This bag is the answer to everything. The pack straps were a life saver on a remote winter trip I went on for four days in March. Not only did the bag fit my gear - including my ski jacket and bibs, but my boyfriend also threw in a hoodie and his sweats. I am a fairly light packer, but I could easily use this bag for a long beach vacation, or an extended weekend away. The material is perfect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Best Duffel Bag I love this duffel bag. Its fairly weather resistant, its convertible, its easy to pick out of a group of luggage (I have the white/turquoise), and it seems extremely durable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great versatile and well-designed duffel! I bought this duffel about a month ago and am very happy with it! I know Patagonia's products well but hadn't tried the Blackhole series. I'm glad I did. If you're looking for duffels, you've come to the right place. The main question you'll need to answer is: what size? My sense is the 60L is probably the most versatile size. Great use case - Weekend trips (recent example: carried two pillows, a blanket, half-liter bottle of wine, cork screw, pear, chocolate bar, two notebooks and pens, and a water bottle) Pros - Materials: Good mix of TPU-film laminate and 900-denier polyester ripstop. - Attachment points / carrying: The handles feel good in the hand and the shoulder straps are surprisingly comfortable to use. This is important because if it didn't feel good in the hand or strapped to your back, you're less likely to use it. - Styling: Well-executed Patagonia styling that makes the bag outdoorsy and athletic but also smart enough to be around town. - Compartments: Just the right number. Too many or too few zippered compartments makes finding things difficult. This has the right number and size. Cons - A bigger opening into the main compartment? The main U-shaped opening isn't as big as the full top face. If it was bigger, it'd make packing things in and pulling things out a little easier. But maybe there's a good reason an opening of this size was chosen. - Only one I can think of is whether the bag could be made a little lighter: what if a lower denier polyester ripstop was used? Patagonia has a Lightweight Blackhole series but it's straps don't seem as comfortable.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Almost perfect, almost... Initially I used this for a 13 day solo trip in Cuba as my main pack (had a small day pack for said purpose that I would pack into this duffel on big moving days) and it was big enough for my stuff plus a little room to spare for a handful of things I gathered along my way. Super durable, taxis, airports and rough neck Cubans didn't even knick or abrade it in any way. The two mesh pockets are useful and good on utilizing the lids underside. It stays open easily so you can rummage through down to the bottom corner if needed. The outside side pocket was nice for things needed on hand frequently (visa, tickets, map etc). Backpack mode was easy and comfortable for moving around, although not designed for extended periods of walking it was fine for walking across Havana one day. Grab handles make it easy to toss around or throw into the overhead on flights too. Changes I would suggest: Make the external zipper on the side pocket lockable for when one leaves it in say a hostel or couch surfing type situation. Clearly if someone wants in they'll just cut it, but at least being able to lock that access point gives one a bit more resistance to get into the bag. Or figure out how to make that convertible pocket only have one zipper. Bummer one can get into the main compartment from that side pocket. I now use this duffel so much i dont even bother stuffing it away, its now the go to for pretty much everything I do. Highly recommended!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Bag! Description needs improvement. I bought this bag to use because I don't need that much space, but based on the descriptions, I didn't think that it would be this small, but I can manage. So far, it seems like a great bag though. The DWR is a great addition to the piece as the conditions near the cargo handling can be unpredictable when traveling.
