Reviews are wrong that say this runs big
I have numerous Patagonia items and am consistently a small. I have 4 newer coats and sweatshirts all smalls. I read alot of reviews this runs big. It does not. The xs coat's arms are like 6 inches too short for me. The shoulders fit and the waist but way too short sleeves. Not sure what to do for size. I gave this to my 11 year old daughter a... Room for improvement
I wanted this jacket for working outside in colder months, mostly for hauling wood. I tried it on as soon as it was delivered and right away I could tell sleeves were too short and tight. The body fit fine, but there's no way I could actually use it for working outside, the sleeves ended up mid forearm when I stretched my arms out or bent my e... Read Morelbows. I usually wear XS (5'2" 93 lbs) but I sized up to a S based off other reviews. I'm glad I did! I definitely wouldn't be able to fit any thicker layers if I stayed with an XS. Comfy and great for cold weather with layers underneath
I have broader shoulders and was looking for an alternative better suited to cold weather than a barely insulated carhartt work jacket I have been using for years. Love the feel of this -- roomy, feels already broken in with room for layers without feeling tight in the shoulders. Not sure how the hemp-based material will hold up to abraison over ti... Read Moreme compared to other duck canvas, so can't say anything about durability of the outer material, but I find the hand pockets a bit questionable. Yes, they are super soft and comfy to slip my hands into, but the fleece inside is sooo thin, there is no way it will hold up to actual work that often includes shoving objects like keys and smaller tools into them over and over and over again -- so, great jacket, but for something claiming to not just be casual but workwear, unfortunately dainty pockets -- we'll see how long they hold up (still love the jacket though!).
BEST JACKET EVER
I cannot lie, I work in the outdoor industry and when I saw this jacket come out I bought it immediately. I found the fit true to size for a bomber jacket (if you are not used to this style it's generally snug on the waist and wrists, slim in the forearms then roomy in the chest and shoulders). It fits like a dream and does everything I want i... Read Moret to do. Minimal insulation but great wind blocking, so if it gets really cold you will need an under layer. If you run hot like me this jacket is great for 30-degree weather. I even bought the matching vest, and I am in LOVE. The pockets are in the best angel for easy hand warming, and the chest pocket is big enough to fit a full-size phone. I love it!
I checked off only 3 boxes for what I wear this coat for and actually wear it for more. At home up on the ridge where I live, I wear it for my work with the land, hikes, Xc ski, and off the mountain to the grocery store and coffee shop, I wear for just about everything. I was deciding between this jacket and a Carhartt and am very happy I went with this one. The jacket feels very light, and I was worried it would not be warm enough. Perfect Weight and Fit
I ordered both the small and the medium to see which would be better. The small fit me exactly how the jacket is intended, but I opted for the medium bc I like things to have a little more room. This jacket is the perfect insulation weight and I get tones of compliments on how it looks. I love it.
Way cozier than Carhartt
From the photos, I assumed it would fit like a bulky, insulated Carhartt jacket, but it's way better! This fits like a cozy, soft, broken in hoody. In fact, the first day I wore it, two people complimented me on my "hoody." I live in AK and it's not warm enough to be a true winter jacket, but it's a perfect shoulder-season ... Read Morepiece. I'm usually between sm/med in Patagonia (5'7", 140 lbs, broad shoulders). I went with the medium in this and have zero regrets. I will say that I have average length arms and the sleeves fit perfectly. If they were a centimeter shorter, they'd feel too short.
I almost love love this jacket - the material is great, it looks fantastic on me, its clearly built to last, the attention to detail is all that you would hope from Patagonia - but I have to return mine because the cut just isnt right for me. Im 5ft 2in, and 115/120 lbs with a thin muscular build. I tried the XS and S, the S was definitely too big, and the XS is what Im reporting on here as it was so close and I REALLY wanted it to fit. I could wear a thin layer under the jacket, but I would want to be able to wear a fleece under this and wear it all winter if I could. The armpit/elbow issue was fine if I only wore a T-shirt underneath, but thats but how I wear jackets generally. For comparison, the barn coat XS fits perfectly. If they made the bomber jacket sleeves like those, or a hood on the barn coat, I would wear one of those ALL the time for absolutely EVERYTHING!
We're truly sorry to hear about the fit on our Women's All Seasons Hemp Canvas Bomber Hoody Jacket. We went ahead and reached out to you via email to offer some help with your return. We also passed your thoughts along to our Design Team. Thank you so much for your feedback.
5'2" 106lbs and ordered the XS, fits me comfortably with a sweater or sweatshirt underneath. Sleeves weren't too tight but are just long enough. Its very comfortable, plenty of pockets. When it arrived it fit in my mailbox and I was afraid the lack of bulk would mean lack of warmth: not true! Classic bomber style but with very narrow shoulders and tight sleeves relative to body width/length. Im a 34C, 26 inch waist, 17 inch torso length, and muscular shoulders and arms. Great all-around jacket
I bought this jacket for working outside on our 5-acre property in Eastern WA. It is great for that. I have been especially impressed with how it does all around, though. Nice Jacket (but smallish sleeves)
Overall I'm happy with this jacket -- it's quite warm with a generous hood and a variety of pockets. I'm glad I bought it and I'm sure I'll get lots of use out of it. I'm 5'3", 100 lbs, bought an XS and the sleeves only juuuust fit me. The sleeves are shortish (good for not getting caught in stuff, but keep in mind if you want long sleeves). The sleeves are also tightish (they fit comfortably over a long sleeve shirt, but feel tight over anything thicker and I have pretty skinny arms). I'd recommend sizing up if you want to layer or like more room in your sleeves. The rest of the jacket fit true to size and I can layer a puffy vest under.
Warm, insulated and ethically made
I received this as a Christmas gift, and its exactly what I was looking for. I use this for walking and also to work. Not only is it versatile, it has character ( I have the Ink Black). Fit is not great
I really wanted to love this jacket, but the sleeves are just too small/tight. I usually wear an xs in Patagonia, sometimes a small in slim fit. Best Jacket Ever
This jacket is warm, fits perfectly, has plenty of pockets, is durable, offers freedom of movement, looks great and is super comfortable. Delighted with this jacket in every way!
Odd color, runs small
I'm 5`5, 160, and a 32 DD. I wear a medium and checked measurements against the size chart to make sure it would fit across the bust before purchase. It fits over a t-shirt, but is a bit tight in the shoulders, so I'd definitely recommend sizing up if you want any extra room at all. I ordered the black and could see in the pictures that i... Read Moret wasn't a true deep black, but when I took it out of the bag, I was amazed to see that it's looks like denim and is a light black/grey heather color. The color looks weird on me, so I'll have to return it, but I gave it 4 stars because if you're OK with the color and size up, it's actually comfortable and warm.
I love this jacket! I wore it throughout the winter last year it held up great, and kept me super warm! I had to jump a fence while wearing it, and grease from a squeeze chute got on it, but it came out pretty easily! (I was super surprised) I highly recommend this jacket, serves its purpose without getting in the way.
Magical Work Jacket
I farm full-time year round outdoors in the northeast. This is the best work coat I could possibly imagine. It's comfortable and flexible. Fitted through shoulders
I got this as a more durable alternative to my puffy as I tend to stain and destroy them quicker than I would like. The coat is warm, love the lined pockets. A Great Multipurpose Jacket
A cozy and fashionable jacket that works great as an all-purpose outer layer in the fall. Protects well against the wind and stays very warm despite having a canvas exterior and relatively thin-feeling weight. I wouldn't say it runs small but it certainly is fitted, if you plan on wearing multiple thicker layers or are aiming for a more "... Read Moretrendy" oversized bomber look, maybe try a size up. A zippable pocket on the left breast is just the right size for a phone or other item. Consistently kept me warm down to around 40 F, though more testing into the winter will prove how much lower it can go. I also can't vouch for its longevity, but given its quality and patagonia's reputation, I hope to be using it for many seasons more into the future.
Great for East Coast
I'm from Southern California where a jacket like this is needed < 5 times a year, but this is perfect for anything below 50. Traveling to the east coast in this around fall is perfect. As someone who lives in northern Minnesota and is used to doing tasks like splitting wood, shoveling snow, repairing vehicles and other challenging tasks in wintertime temps, this jacket cannot be beat for fit and durability. super flattering and rugged
This is a super flattering jacket, in addition to being highly rugged and functional. It is relatively warm. I was looking for a jacket since its getting cold in Washington and I found this one. Super super warm and perfect for the cold weather.
I got this in the mail and loved it! However, when I went to put it on it was too small. I am a 5'11 woman weighing around 215 pounds with a bust of 44 and shoulders at 21, and this jacket rode up whenever I lifted my arms. Thanks for the feedback Ceridwyn. Extended sizing is definitely a priority as our brand grows. We've passed your suggestions along to our design team. Thanks!
I tried XS which is my normal size and it was pretty tight. Went with small which fits like an XS. This is a heavy jacket and fits cute but I think the hand warmer pockets could benefit from having zippers or a snap to secure items. The hood is nice a big and covers my whole head even with a ponytail up.
So cozy, just right
I work in a huge, freezing warehouse and my clothes can't be polyester (too much static electricity!) so I got this bomber hoping it would help with both problems. The chest pocket is large enough to fit a baby bottle for my bottle lamb (keeping my hands free to open/close doors and gates), and the lined hand pockets are ample sized as well. I don't feel like things are going to fall out of them. The hood is large, which I like, and has a string that's actually long enough to tie. I don't like the hood being one piece with the collar - there are times when I want the jacket zipped all the way up but don't need the hood up for safety/sight reasons, and the fit is awkward. Overall, this is a well-made jacket that has done exactly what I need it to. I would purchase again, keeping in mind that unless you're going for a tight, form-fitting look, order a size (or two?) larger to be able to move around and work in it.
Cute jacket for work
I purchased this jacket to wear to my job at a nature preserve. I particularly like the hemp material, pocket liner material, and pocket placement. I go between a medium and large for jackets usually puffy jackets a medium and shells and technical jackets a large for layering . When Im outside I like to layer so with this jacket I knew more than likely I would be wearing a hoody underneath or sweatshirt so I wanted a size bigger . I tried on a large and x-large. I found the jacket to be boxy, tighter in the shoulder area & shorter in the length which is usually never a problem for me. So I went with the x-large just because I wanted it to cover my backside and to fit more roomy for layering. If I wasnt going to be wearing this outside with layers I would have kept the smaller size but if you are wanting to layer and move around I would suggest sizing up. I did read other reviews about this jacket and a lot said it ran small, glad I was able to try on different sizes to find what I was looking for. For reference I have never sized bigger than a large in anything Patagonia.
Great lining and pockets
Nice sturdy everyday coat. Its flexible and I enjoy wearing it. Only 4 stars because of sizing issues. Im 57.5 and 127lbs. I wear an XS in the down sweater and a medium in this coat. I always have to order several sizes from Patagonia because they seem very inconsistent.
Love this jacket
I truly love this jacket. Its super warm. The fit is perfect. I ordered a medium so I could wear a vest as well but so far I havent needed to. I love Patagonia as a brand as well. To be a conscious consumer means something to me more than ever. But I will probably buy one of the other colors besides the pumice. Love !!
Perfect for outdoor activity
I bought this jacket for mostly outdoor wear. I too was getting frustrated with poking holes in my down coats, and was looking for something that would withstand bumping into fences, branches, etc. I have worn this while wild-crafting in the Oregon woods and found it kept me perfectly warm the entire time. I love this jacket!
I bought this as a cabin jacket. I was tired of ruining my down hoody sitting by the fire or chopping wood, and needed something a little more durable for the chores in the woods. This fits the bill! I think the sleeves are a bit short and it fit a little smaller than I expected, but its so soft and easy to move in that it doesnt matter.
Wanted to love
The quality of this jacket is excellent. The lining and design idea good. The fit for me was off. I bought a Large to be able to wear midlayer underneath. I am average height and build. The chest and shoulders were fine but the cut of the body had too much material and was very bulky. Did not work for horse riding and work. Sent it back

I bought this coat for casual wear during the winter. I absolutely love every aspect of it. Its so warm without being overly bulky. I can still move in it and do normal tasks and not feel like Im bound down in a huge winter coat. I love the style - it goes with everything.

I was recently on a road trip and wore this jacket almost every day, with temps ranging from 30s to 50s. I love this jacket so much! Im tiny but I love Work Wear, which tends to run big to accommodate movement. This fits like a glove (XS for 52 110lbs). Favorite features: warm but not too heavy.
