The XXL is just right for my 14yr old, 5'4 and 120lbs son. He is average for his height and weight. This will not fit a 16yr old more so 18. I think an average 18yr old boy is 5'8 and 140lbs. Maybe you need to make XXXL for the kids, I really hope you do! Thank you.
This is for 7 year old grandson and fits him perfectly although i thought it would be a bit larger. It is so well made, I have changed to purchasing Patagonia products for my grandchildren and family - sewn pockets, strong zippers, comfort, thoughtful design NO Glued seams, function as described plus he rally likes the jacket. Also Patagonia vision... Read More. I have 27 year old windbreaker that went all over the Canadian Rockies and Sierras in the back country - it looks perfect with a tiny fading in shoulders, still beautiful apple green/purple reversible.
I purchased this jacket for a family member. It was perfect! He feels very warm and he loves it! He has worn outside when it has been a little too cold. He stays super cozy and warm. Love this jacket!!
This boys infurno jacket is my and my sons favorite winter jacket of all time. It is light but warm enough to get through Portland's rainy winter season. My son who is vey picky with what he wears have no complaints about this one that I have been buying this one every time he sizes up. I even got one for myself and I see why my son loves it s... I bought this jacket for my son for his 6th birthday. He absolutely loves it!!! He's not that small, but he is slim. He is also very picky in his clothes, not just design and color but the way it feels on him (weight, fabric, etc.) If he doesn't like it, he just won't wear it, so I was having a hard time finding something that he wou... Read Moreld like. My older son (11 years old) wears the same color jacket in a M, so I suggested may be we try the XS and see how that fits. The moment he tried it, he loved it and he has been wearing it every where. Thank you so much!! I know I will be coming back to buy a larger size when he grows out of it!!
This is a wonderfully made coat for fall and winter temps. Its so handsome on,fits great and keeps my grandson warm and its easy for him to play in without being cumbersome
My son loves this coat! Perfect for school days, playing outside and everything in between! Not too bulky, medium weight, and keeps him dry. Not only is it functional, but very attractive for an every day coat.
I like this jacket. However, it has its major flaws. The jacket runs very small. Also, the hood it very tight around my childs head. It was hard for him to even get it on. Love the look of this jacket and has a great feel unfortunately not one of the best jackets made by Patagonia.

XXL Does fit Adults
I wanted to write a review because when I was shopping, it was difficult to determine if the size XXL would fit an adult. I am appx. 5'6 - 5'7, and weigh appx. 135 lbs. I noticed some reviews saying this ran very small, so I was concerned it would not fit. I am glad it did! I tried this on with a light sweatshirt and there was still room ... Read Morefor another layer. I was concerned about the arms being too short (which is the most common problem I have buying children's sized clothing), but they were normal length on me. The hood even fit. Clearly, this would be longer on a shorter person, but I don't mind the length of the coat which hits a little below hips on me .
Thanks for the feedback on our Boys' Infurno Jacket. This jacket is intended for more casual use and is essentially a shelled fleece with synthetic insulation. If you were looking for something with more warming capacity, we'd recommend checking out any of the Boys' Down jackets, a great place to start is the [Boys' Bivy Down Hoody](https://www.patagonia.com/product/boys-bivy-down-hoody/68311-CTRB.html?dwvar_68311-CTRB_color=CTRB&cgid=kids-boys-jackets-vests), it's the perfect balance of fashion meets function.

Sizing chart wrong. By your chart our grandson should fit a medium. When it arrived it was too small. Replaced w/a large which is perfect. Otherwise the jacket exceeds expectations
This coat runs on the smaller side. Was disappointed that the faux fur didnt carry through the sleeves as we scoured the internet trying to find one that was fully lined with this cozy material.
This is our go-to jacket four our kids. Over the years we have purchased all the colors in different sizes. The largest fit my oldest to about 8th grade. These are the PERFECT coat for Georgia winters. Highly recommend.
I bought this for my 9 year old who typically wears a size L in boys thinking it would be a little big! I would say the XL fits like a M. We had to sadly return it.
Thanks for your review on our Boys' Infurno Jacket. We're sorry to hear that the sizing was inconsistent for you, we are actively working to fix this issue throughout our product line. In the meantime if you'd like to make a [return](https://www.patagonia.com/returns.html), feel free to do so.

Broke within two days
The zipper broke within two days. My son loves this jacket, he finds it warm but the quality is very disappointing for the price. I bought it from Backcountry and its 2 days past its warrantee so now Im stuck with a broken zipper.
Thanks for your feedback Geraldine. We are sorry you are experiencing zipper issues. Regardless of where you buy our product we want you to be fully satisfied. Please visit our [Repairs](https://www.patagonia.com/returns.html) page and we can help you get that zipper fixed for your son.

Great Fall Jacket
Perfect for Seattle climate and my 8 year old loves it.
These jackets are great! Durable and everything I was looking for. One thing I wish it had was a plastic tag on the inside of the jacket (like north face) to write their name. I know there is a tag but I like the design of north faces more.
My son is average for an almost 11 year old(he’s one month away). I don’t like to buy clothes that he’ll “grow into”. I prefer the clothes to fit and be wearable when I buy them. He normally wears a size 12 so I bought a size 12 in the jacket after reading all the previous reviews. It’s still too small. I’m hoping to return and order a size 14. I w... Read Moreill try to update my comment later with his height and weight( he’s very average for his age). The length was decent but the sleeves are far too short. The lining is cute(faux fur) and I like that the lining of the sleeves is a faux satin type material so he isn’t having a hard time with his sleeves riding up when he puts the coat on. Still a great product but you may want to order one or, in my case, two sizes up.
I have 4 kids and my kids have worn the nano puff jackets since they were babies, but I purchased the Infurno two years ago for my son who was 5 (XS) and this one has now become a favorite. I prefer it to the nano puff jacket because it’s very sturdy, durable, and very warm. My son has worn it often and gotten it very dirty and it has washed really... Read More well and still looks new. He passed it on to his sister today and I bought a new one in his size. I love knowing that I’m not just buying a jacket for my oldest because it will be passed down and keep all of my kids warm. It’s worth every penny.
The coat is very cute but it’s absolutely not for cold weather. The sleeves are almost windbreaker thin and the fleece lining in the body is quite thin as well. It’s a good coat for 50 degree Fall weather but that’s about it.
My son is on his 4th size of this coat. He asks to size up on the inferno each time he outgrows it. He passes them on to his sister, who also love it. I have to say that of all of my Patagonia purchases, this coat has held up the best. They all look brand new after both kids have washed/ worn them for multiple seasons. It washes really well. It... Read More7;s not very heavy, but it's extremely warm. My son will occasionally layer a fleece or sweatshirt under it if it's super cold( windchill below zero) and he plans to stay out for hours, but says he has never felt like he needed to come in early, due to being cold.
I am incredibly impressed with how well this jacket looks after 2 years of heavy use by one very active little boy. It is virtually indestructible! We loved this jacket so much that we bought the next size! Great product!!
I bought this jacket for my older son just before he turned 5 (size XS). He wore it for two years then passed it to his younger brother, and we bought him the next size up (he's now 7 in a Small). The first one, almost 3 years in,is still in great condition. The only detail I did not like on the older jacket was the coil zipper. The new (current... Both my kids love how soft the jacket is on the inside. It's been the perfect weight for our Bay Area winters, weekends at Tahoe, and when visiting the midwest in the winter. It's also works well in rain so no need for a 2nd rain coat.
I love this jacket! I bought the brown in a size 10 for my 8 year old SON (who is by average, short for his age...still wears 6-7 tops and size 7 jeans) and the green one in a size 8 for my 6 year old DAUGHTER (normally wears size 7/8). Both jackets fit great! I did size them up so they can wear another year, but they can pull off the extra room in... Read More the jacket layering underneath and rolling up the sleeves one time. I do appreciate the length too as it's a parka size coat, which fits past their waist about mid thigh. I was most interested in this jacket because I needed something to suit my very active kids who are normally are VERY rough on their clothes as we do a lot outdoors. The shell on this coat is VERY good quality and still very warm inside (and water resistant). I was worried with other jackets , that with regular activities of climbing in the trees, climbing rocks, riding bikes, hiking, even falling down, etc... I was worried about the shell getting ripped. It's been great as a fall jacket, but as it gets colder will need layering underneath. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
NOTE: Dear Patagonia, I love this jacket! I've received many compliments! Both my kids have enjoyed them very much! However, I only had 1 initial concern unrelated to the quality of the coat. Inside the coat on the size tag it states it is a "BOYS" coat. My 6 year old daughter questioned why her perfect, warm coat said BOYS on the tag. I understand it was made for the boys department, but there wasn't an Inferno coat made for "GIRLS" so, I had to buy a BOYS. I try to purchase gender neutral colors so my son can pass on his worn wear to his little sister. I have since resolved this issue with my daughter explaining the quality and function of her coat exceeding just a label on the tag. Thanks for keeping our family warm!
I purchased this jacket for my 6-year old boy in size M. Light, sturdy, and very warm! The only downturn is that the zip would get stuck so much that I had it replaced.
This is the "best coat ever" according to my son. I think it is a good value and a great everyday school coat. The outer fabric sheds water well and is softer than it appears on the photos. The inner fabric is soft and cozy. A hood is essential for kids who continually loose hats and the pockets are big enough to hold a pair of gloves. My...
