A GREAT read.......but
Having done this mission in '88 (on a more capable boat!), I can totally relate to a lot of the people, places and events Christian writes about.. A truly life changing trip for me..seeing the canary on Cedros jugged with abalone!! It made me a Baja addict over the last twenty five years.. Land travel is my choice these days.. I feel fortunate... Read More enough to know the Rudy's, and Aurelio very well.. The voyage of the Cormorrant was my companion on last month while dodging hurricane Odile.. I ended up in San Carlos... What a great place to take in this Novel! I enjoyed the heck out of this book!............. Here is the "but"........... In visiting with Aurelio last month in fish camp... He told me he had not heard from Christian since the Voyage, and had no idea there was a book about it.. I showed him the book, and opened to a random page in the beginning.. Aurelio pick out his full name in print immediately! He was so proud! Then a different air came about him... He was confused why all these years later he did not know this.... I promised him a copy in Spanish the next time I came down.. Unless Mr. Beamish drives down ther and brings him one first!!! (HINT!!!) TT33
Just Plain Amazing!
I am pleased to be able to write this review for Christian Beamish's new book. I had the honor of a reading and slide show at Patagonia Cardiff and got myself a signed copy and a photo with the Cormorant Herself! That was a great night and then I got to go home and start reading. I can't remember the last time a book has made me ache for ... Read Morean adventure the way this book has. Mr. Beamish has captured the danger, and the solitude of solo travel. This book should make anyone want to start their own project and take it out on an adventure and go surfing. Kudos on a fantastic read and as a bonus some great illustrations.
