The Regional Visual Merchandiser provides visual merchandising service to several Patagonia retail stores, including but not limited to: Washington, DC, Atlanta, and Austin; as well as provides SE wholesale accounts assistance in creating a Patagonia presence within their stores. S/he is responsible for overseeing and implementing store merchandising strategies which focus on product sell through and are consistent with the Company goals, image and marketing strategies.
Essential Job Functions:
In-line Retail Stores
o Participate in creating a retail environment that is innovative, unique and customer friendly.
o Maintain and grow a visual personality for the store that reflects the community in which it is located.
o Implement visual merchandising directives (Spend two-three days per week or 8-10 days/month in each retail store to implement visual merchandising directives).
o Create seasonal floor plans and implement floor changes with Store Managers and Staff.
o Change displays, point of sale and re-merchandise select areas of the stores regularly.
o Clinic Staff and train new employees on merchandising basics. Involve the Staff in the maintenance of the store visually and help communicate Patagonia’s expectations and standards regarding everything visual to the Staff.
o Work with the Visual Design Group to implement Patagonia’s environmental policy visually within the store.
o Work with the Visual Design Group to determine specific visual needs, such as fixtures, image photos and point of sale materials.
o Assist with new store set-up as needed.
Wholesale Dealer Stores
o Work with selected dealers to install Patagonia areas within their store, as well as other installations and visual merchandising activities.
o Service and provide store clinics to Retail Staff on visual merchandising principles.
o Work with Reps to coordinate regional seminars and clinics with dealers.
o Participate in set-up of trade show and other exhibits.
o Maximize sales through merchandising.
o Assist with new store set-up as needed.
o Document work performed.
o Must be able to travel utilizing various transportation methods.
o Ability to maintain a composed and professional demeanor within a flexible and (at times noisy) work environment.
o Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
o Continually able to lift up to 40 pounds from the floor to a waist high table.
o Continually able to walk as job dictates.
o Continually able to kneel down to floor level.
o Comfortable climbing ladders.
o Continually able to do fine and medium hand manipulations.
Minimum Job Qualifications:
o S/he must reside in the territory.
o Working knowledge of personal computers with experience in the use of such programs as Word, Excel, Outlook and Adobe Illustrator.
o 1+ years retail visual merchandising experience requiring execution of merchandising plans and demonstrated ability to design and construct creative displays.
o 2+ years retail experience.
o Excellent customer service skills, in person, on the phone and in writing.
o Ability to foster collaborative and positive working relationships.
o Ability to work well under pressure and deadlines.
o Ability to gather appropriate input and make clear, well-reasoned decisions.
o Comfortable with team-based work structure; ability to remain flexible to change within the work environment and scope of responsibility.
o Demonstrates initiative, is conscientious, and provides complete follow-through on areas of responsibility.
o Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
