We stand behind everything we make, including our wetsuits. But wetsuits require care if they are going to perform and wear the way they were intended. Patagonia is not responsible for wetsuits that are abused or show normal wear and tear over time. Scratches and fading are inevitable, as are tears from the occasional close call with a fin. Offering additional warmth, comfort and sun protection, the formfitting R1® Vest has 1.5mm neoprene and high-stretch 100% recycled polyester lining for increased flexibility and fast dry times. Made for warm water: 65-75° F/18-23° C.

Offering supplemental warmth while protecting you from sun and rash, the R1® Vest has a 100% recycled polyester lining and high-quality neoprene that meets Patagonia’s rigorous standards for warmth, strength and stretch. With clean princess seams at the front and back, anatomical patterning holds the vest snug to your body through long sessions in powerful mid-Pacific surf; the 6-inch upper chest zipper has a back flap for comfort against the skin. Other features include a rolled hem with zigzag coverstitching at the neck and arm openings, and a heat-pressed hem at the waist. Seams are sewn with flatlock construction and all critical seams and wear areas are secured with glue dots, one-centimeter bartacks and spot tape reinforcements for durability. The water-resistant exterior face fabric is made from 88% recycled polyester with 12% spandex for additional stretch.

Recycled Polyester

Regulator

In 1993, we adopted fleece into our product line made from post consumer recycled (PCR) plastic soda bottles. We were the first outdoor clothing manufacturer to do so. PCR® clothing was a positive step towards a more sustainable system – one that uses fewer resources, discards less and better protects people’s health.

Today, we’re able to utilize more sources for recycled polyester and offer it on more garments such as Capilene® baselayers, shell jackets, board shorts, and fleece. We now recycle used soda bottles, unusable manufacturing waste, and worn out garments (including our own) into polyester fibers to produce many of our clothes.

Using recycled polyester lessens our dependence on petroleum as a raw material source, curbs discards and reduces toxic emissions from incinerators.
