We make the steadfast Wanaka for those cold, stormy months when the weather conspires to keep you from your tick list of to-dos. This hardworking jacket stands up to wind, sleet and bone-chilling temperatures with a combination of Traceable Down (600-fill-power duck down traced from parent farm to apparel factory to help ensure the birds that supply it are not force-fed or live-plucked); a durable, 2-layer H2No® Performance Standard recycled polyester shell; and a waterproof/breathable barrier treated with a DWR (durable water repellent) finish for wet-weather protection. The multifunctional collar design, inspired by vintage army jackets, flips upright and snaps closed to seal out buffeting winds. The full-length zipper has a snap-shut storm flap; cuffs are adjustable with snaps. Smooth and easy gliding, the lining is made of 2.3-oz 100% recycled polyester with square quilting to keep the down from shifting. An insulated, zip-off hood and drop-tail rear hem protect both your top and bottom. Pocketing includes two fleece-lined zippered handwarmer pockets and two chest pockets. Hip length.

bluesign® Approved Fabric

Patagonia has worked with bluesign technologies since 2000 to evaluate and reduce resource consumption in our materials supply chain, and to assist us with managing the chemicals, dyes and finishes used in the process. bluesign technologies, based in Switzerland, works at each step in the textile supply chain to approve chemicals, processes, materials, and products that are safe for the environment, safe for workers, and safe for the end customers.

In 2007, Patagonia became the first brand to officially join the network of bluesign® system partners.

Any fabric you see that’s bluesign® approved offers the highest level of consumer safety by employing methods and materials in their manufacture that conserve resources and minimize impacts on people and the environment.

Traceable Down Insulation

Patagonia Traceable Down provides the highest assurance of animal welfare in the apparel industry. Every down cluster, in every one of our down products, comes exclusively from birds that were never force-fed and never live-plucked. How do we know? We hired an independent third-party expert to trace and verify our down supply chain from farm to jacket–and every step in between. Learn more

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Your best friend for serious cold I bought this because I needed a dependable below-zero coat for Jackson Hole winters and this one has already passed the test several times. The construction, quality, stitching, etc. is first-rate. I expect it will outlive me. Great jacket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great jacket Got this before winter, used it in Hokkaido, Japan on a snowboarding trip. Used it for traveling and apres. I like the warmth, although it is a tad bulky. No powder skirt, so probably not good for snowboarding unless the snow is old.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great jacket overall I usually wear a medium, but had to order a small. Overall great for everyday use or outdoor activities for Michigan climate.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best coat I have ever purchased Having moved from the SF Bay Area to NJ this year, I was in the market for a warm down coat. Could not be happier w/ my purchase. It is incredibly warm, keeps out all wind / elements and looks really nice. I previously had a parka from a competitor and the quality of this jacket is much better. I also love the lifetime guarantee and fact that the coat is made using recycled/sustainable fabrics. I have the green version and it goes really well with just about all of my wardrobe. If I could change 1 thing, it would be to have the hood be a bit more adjustable so that it fits tighter when it is really cold/windy, but there is no issue if you wear a beanie.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Part space suit, part warm hug I bought this jacket to be my primary winter jacket for winter in Milwaukee. Now, it seems, Milwaukee needs to upgrade its winters. The jacket is very lofty and very warm. It works great when it's cold, it sheds rain, and it holds heat well. I imagine this is what it feels like to wear a spacesuit. It's really comfortable keeping warm waiting for the car to warm up during my commute. It works well to protect from the elements while walking from my home to a store, but once I'm inside the store I want to remove it because it is so warm. It's a little too bulky and warm when the weather gets above freezing. It's a great coat and very high quality. It feels like winter armor. I'm glad I bought it and will continue to use it for many winters to come on the cold days. On days above 32 deg, I will probably use a coat that isn't quite as warm.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Extremely warm coat for cold temperatures Bought this a couple months ago and have been wearing it in the cold winter of Colorado. It's extremely warm and I have worn a couple of times while snowboarding. Waterproof and fits very nicely.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent Coat I've had this coat for a month and a half. It look great. Beautifully constructed. Well designed. It's really warm. I love wearing it. My one issue is when i'm out in the cold without gloves, the pockets don't keep my hands warm. The pockets aren't insulated from the outside cold.
