We make the steadfast Wanaka for those cold, stormy months when the weather conspires to keep you from your tick list of to-dos. This hardworking jacket stands up to wind, sleet and bone-chilling temperatures with a combination of Traceable Down (600-fill-power duck down traced from parent farm to apparel factory to help ensure the birds that supply it are not force-fed or live-plucked); a durable, 2-layer H2No® Performance Standard recycled polyester shell; and a waterproof/breathable barrier treated with a DWR (durable water repellent) finish for wet-weather protection. The multifunctional collar design, inspired by vintage army jackets, flips upright and snaps closed to seal out buffeting winds. The full-length zipper has a snap-shut storm flap; cuffs are adjustable with snaps. Smooth and easy gliding, the lining is made of 2.3-oz 100% recycled polyester with square quilting to keep the down from shifting. An insulated, zip-off hood and drop-tail rear hem protect both your top and bottom. Pocketing includes two fleece-lined zippered handwarmer pockets and two chest pockets. Hip length.

bluesign® Approved Fabric

Patagonia has worked with bluesign technologies since 2000 to evaluate and reduce resource consumption in our materials supply chain, and to assist us with managing the chemicals, dyes and finishes used in the process. bluesign technologies, based in Switzerland, works at each step in the textile supply chain to approve chemicals, processes, materials, and products that are safe for the environment, safe for workers, and safe for the end customers.

In 2007, Patagonia became the first brand to officially join the network of bluesign® system partners.

Any fabric you see that’s bluesign® approved offers the highest level of consumer safety by employing methods and materials in their manufacture that conserve resources and minimize impacts on people and the environment.

Traceable Down Insulation

Patagonia Traceable Down provides the highest assurance of animal welfare in the apparel industry. Every down cluster, in every one of our down products, comes exclusively from birds that were never force-fed and never live-plucked. How do we know? We hired an independent third-party expert to trace and verify our down supply chain from farm to jacket–and every step in between. Learn more

Men's Wanaka Down Jacket is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 49.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Everlasting Wow great coat. I've been a snowboarder for thirty years. I know coats! This is the real deal. Amazing quality build and stylish. Is it warm? Of course it's down. At first I thought that it would benefit from a fleece/flannel lining but then realized it's perfect the way it is. Not hot, not cold, just right. It is a bit bulky, as to be expected with down. But it still fits great. I can't wait to see how it works for snowboarding. I usually go less with layers for the slopes to have freedom of movement. I like it for casual use. I like the gray color. You've got a fan for life!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very dry The first week I had it, I was stuck in a cold rain. The material really does shed rain, I was warm and dry. The only problem I have is that the flap on the pockets can be annoying to open, like when you need to quickly shove in gloves

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Classic jacket Classic late 80's early 90's styling. The hood does weigh down the collar, but if you remove it the jacket looks sharper. It has a a uniform like appearance. my brother says it looks like a cop's jacket; he would know he works for the D.O.D . The zipper was catching on the chin guard flap;Patagonia replaced it with another. Warm enough for Nova Scotian winters. I wear it with just a t shirt in the colder months. The fit is slightly roomy ,but remember most people my layer in the extreme cold. The vertical front chest pocket , metal snaps ,and the elastic inner cuffs are fine finishing touches .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great warm jacket Well made durable jacket ,warm and fits true to size Patagonia should pack it with just a little more down to make it guaranteed warm for those cold days below 20 . I would buy again

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Jacket that has everything! Had been looking for a warm, waterproof jacket that could take the harshness of a rainy & windy football game AND be at home in an urban environment. This is it. The down insulation provides enough warmth and the DWR finish repels water very well. The jacket is not overly puffy and does not make that 'swishy' sound that many waterproof jackets make. Removable hood is a big plus for wearing it in the city.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Warm and wind-proof Excellent warmth for cold and windy conditions. Drawback: The top two snaps are very difficult to close as the flap underneath gets in the way. Once completely buttoned and with the hood up it is a very tight fit against the chin for me. Concern: The two foam 'adjusters' that control the hood opening don't seem like they will last very long. Time will tell. Otherwise a very good product.
