Made for the high-country escape artist, our lightweight Refugitive Jacket combines full waterproof/breathable protection with stretch for steep climbs and serious descents. The hybrid 3-layer GORE-TEX® construction uses a slightly more robust, stretchy fabric along the upper back, shoulders and the backsides of the arms for unimpaired mobility. The Optimal Visibility Hood adjusts via an embedded single-pull cord-lock system and fits over ski and climbing helmets alike, while 2-way watertight pit zips let you dump heat on lung-busting ascents. Pockets include two above-harness-line handwarmers with watertight zippers; interior and exterior zippered left-chest pockets; and a right-side interior, stretch catch-all for spare gloves or skins. The hem cinches with embedded cord locks, and an elasticized strap at the lower back connects to any Patagonia® Snow pants (and select Alpine pants) for deep powder days. With a concealed RECCO® reflector.
  • A hybrid design for the optimal balance of stretch and light weight; durably waterproof and windproof 3-layer GORE-TEX® fabrics with GORE® C-KNIT™ backer technology are softer, lighter and more breathable than regular 3-layer GORE-TEX® fabrics
  • Specially engineered Optimal Visibility Hood adjusts with single-pull Cohaesive® embedded cord-lock system to fit equally well over all helmet types or a bare head
  • Two high handwarmer pockets with watertight zippers stay clear of a harness or pack waistbelt; welted exterior left-chest pocket, interior left-chest pocket and interior stretch catch-all pocket
  • Watertight 2-way pit zips for venting
  • Elasticized strap at low back connects to any Patagonia® Snow pants and select Alpine pants to prevent jacket from riding up
  • Cohaesive® embedded cord-lock system has two contact points at the hem for intuitive, one-handed operation either inside pocket or at hem
  • Concealed RECCO® reflector

Water Resistant

DWR (durable water repellent) fabric finish repels light rain and snow and decreases dry times. When DWR is used in conjunction with a waterproof/breathable barrier, the DWR finish keeps the outer fabric from becoming saturated so that the breathable barrier can do its job.

The construction of 3-Layer GORE-TEX® Products is unique. A 3-layer GORE-TEX® membrane is sandwiched between a soft outer material and a knit polyester backing material that increases durability. These garments keep you comfortable and protected from the elements without adding extra bulk or weight.

The GORE-TEX® membrane has 9 billion pores per square inch, with each pore 20,000 times smaller than a water droplet. These tiny holes are too small for water and wind to pass through from the outside. But these same pores are large enough for moisture vapor to pass through, so your body's perspiration is able to escape and you won’t feel clammy or uncomfortable inside your jacket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great all weather jacket So I base all my purchases off of other reviews so I hope this review helps . I would like to say I bought this jacket for a Jan trip coming up to Iceland . Love that it's wind and water proof but still very lightweight (it also was up nice ) . I think this will do over my nano puff or air nano hoody and act as a great shell . I have worn it in the summer rain so far and it is nice and keeps you dry . Excited to try it out in colder temps. I bought a size bigger just so it would fit over all my jackets .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely loving it! Purchased this jacket at the end of ski season due to the winter sale and am having zero regrets! Currently utilizing the jacket for summer rain showers and it has great water protection. The flexibility and durability of the material makes the jacket worth purchasing ! Excited to get it out on the ski slopes this winter and on the trails with snow shoes. Looking forward to many years of use

Rated 4 out of 5 by from You need this jacket This jacket scares the stars out of downpours. It's very comfortable with the perfect balance between comfort and utility. It's a staple for any backcountry action or city slicking.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Shell I just received my large epic blue jacket last week. I'm 5'11" with an athletic build (broad shoulders). It fits great. It's not loose to the point that too much air is getting underneath, but I will not have an issue fitting additional layers underneath for much cooler adventures. The sleeves are also plenty long for my arms, which is not a feature I can say for all jackets. I bought this to go over my nano air for skiing, and to go by itself for other rainy/windy activities. I got it at the end of the season so I only tried it out this past weekend skiing, but it worked great! Used the pit zips as it was a warmer ski day, but felt great motion, and super light.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far, so waterproof I've only used the jacket a few times, but I love the lightweight easy movement of the the jacket, and so far, so waterproof. The hood seems to sit off kilter on my head, and I know it is convenient to have only one adjustment for it, but I personally would rather have 2 where I can see them. It also runs a touch tight for layering for back country skiing (the chest pocket will not fit much comfortably on the small side of 34B). Otherwise, the cuffs are nice, the fabric is nice, I like the length, and fingers crossed for durability. (My Triolet jacket inner layer just started disintegrating). I would definitely recommend it, I just need to rework and cut down on what goes in which pockets.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Shell I've been wearing this as a shell for backcountry skiing all winter and like it more each day. When it's snowing, I skin in it- with the pit zips open it is surprisingly breathable and comfortable even if the temps are high. Most days I pull it on for the trip down, or laps, and it is wind proof- adds a significant layer of warmth despite being so light and packable. It's even light enough that I've taken it on shoulder season backcountry running trips where I want a waterproof layer that provides more protection than an ultra-light raincoat. I usually wear a small in Patagonia jackets (down sweater, ultralight down) and Med in shirts, and found the Med in this is perfect for layering underneath, but doesn't feel bulky with just a tee under it. Only complaint is the 1 cord for adjusting the hood is clunky and inefficient, would love to see side adjustments and one in back, so it can be clamped down around your cheeks in the wind.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Need petite sizing This is a very well made jacket and i really wanted it to work for me . With the slim fit sizing the jacket is too tight in all the wrong places. I am 5' 2" and average build. The sizing is hopeless for me. Thank goodness patagonia products last forever since i am doomed to keep wearing my 10 year old jacket which has a more generous fit and works for me.
