We specialize in low ratio custom trips and professional programs rich with in depth skills instruction, challenge and adventure. NCMG offers courses and private trips for rock climbing, alpine climbing, mountaineering, ice climbing and backcountry skiing in the rugged and spectacular "Alps of America" as well as many of the world's other great ranges. Whatever your ambitions include, you will find that we offer the best times, the best people and the best of places.

Northwest Mountaineering

Northwest Mountain School

The Northwest Mountain School (NMS) is owned and operated by John Race and Olivia Cussen. NMS is based in Leavenworth, WA and offers guided climbs on most peaks in the Pacific Northwest as well as rock, alpine, and ski tours worldwide. Annual trips are as varied as one day climbs near Leavenworth, week-long European Ski Traverses, climbs of classics like the North Ridge of Mt. Stuart and the West Ridge of Forbidden Peak, and as exotic as sailing-climbing combinations to South Georgia Island. Both John Race and Olivia Cussen are IFMGA certified guides. Olivia is the third American woman to have earned her IFMGA certification. NMS pledges 1% of its annual revenue to local environmental organizations.

Skyward Mountaineering

Skyward Mountaineering by Steve House and Vince Anderson

Skyward Mountaineering is a boutique mountain guide service run by Vince Anderson and Steve House. Headquartered in the San Juan Mountains of Western Colorado we specialize in educating and preparing alpinists for off-the-beaten track climbs. We lead the world in guiding ascents of hard classics like the North Faces of the Eiger, Grand Jorasses and the Matterhorn as well as North American test pieces such as the Moonflower Buttress on Mt. Hunter, the Harvard Route on Mt. Huntington and Denali’s Cassin Ridge. At the core of our philosophy lies a unique emphasis on concurrently training skills, judgment, teamwork, fitness and mental preparation. We emphasize practicing all aspects of alpinism from multi-pitch rock climbs to ski mountaineering to climbing the great alpine faces of the world.

Our entire team at Skyward Mountaineering works hard to share a view toward climbing and skiing that counts ethics, courage and aesthetics among its virtues.
