They say you can’t take it with you, but in this large, burly duffel you can certainly try. Rugged and highly weather-resistant, this duffel bag will protect your equipment from spitting camels and all other forms of insult. Access its main compartment through a zippered U-shaped lid, which has a pair of zippered mesh pockets on the underside for small items. A zippered exterior pocket holds the stuff you need to access quickly. The padded bottom panel adds structure and helps cushion the load when your duffel gets the baggage-handler treatment. Carrying options include webbing handles with a snap closure and haul loops at either end that facilitate linking multiple bags. Four daisy chains let you lash additional gear to the outside. Made from 15-oz 900-denier polyester ripstop (50% solution-dyed) with a TPU-film laminate and a DWR (durable water repellent) finish.

bluesign® Approved Fabric

Patagonia has worked with bluesign technologies since 2000 to evaluate and reduce resource consumption in our materials supply chain, and to assist us with managing the chemicals, dyes and finishes used in the process. bluesign technologies, based in Switzerland, works at each step in the textile supply chain to approve chemicals, processes, materials, and products that are safe for the environment, safe for workers, and safe for the end customers.

In 2007, Patagonia became the first brand to officially join the network of bluesign® system partners.

Any fabric you see that’s bluesign® approved offers the highest level of consumer safety by employing methods and materials in their manufacture that conserve resources and minimize impacts on people and the environment.

Water Resistant

DWR
(durable water repellent) fabric finish repels light rain and snow and decreases dry times. When DWR is used in conjunction with a waterproof/breathable barrier, the DWR finish keeps the outer fabric from becoming saturated so that the breathable barrier can do its job.

Black Hole Duffel 120L is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 18.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Eximious (Awesome) ! I used the bag to pack my gear for a week and really is a "black hole". Still had room for more gear. You have to be careful not to go over the weight limit if you are concerned about weight overages because this bag is "huge" and can pack a lot of gear. For weekends, I'm getting the 60L. Simple, durable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A black hole that doesn't suck Hi, my name is Will and I am a 'Pataholic'. But although admitting you have a problem is typically the first step on the road to recovery, I am not yet ready to change my ways. Why? Well let's just put aside for a moment the fact that as a company Patagonia has committed to a series of responsible manufacturing practices that is good for both the laborers and the environment. Let us even forget the simple fact that Patagonia has been able to set the world of physics on its head. (How can these be so? see attached photo - actual living proof that Patagonia has made it possible for multiple Black Holes to share joining space). Let us look past the mind blowing physics and awesome social well fare awareness and instead focus on the fact that the black hole duffel is pure amazingness in shiny slick canvas (or some material of the sorts) form. I travel A LOT. When I travel I also find myself carrying A LOT of gear. It is the curse of being an archaeologist. Shovels, trowels, metal sample boxes, super awesome goat curds made by pastoralists on the Mongolian steppe; at one time or another I have transported this equipment across the country and across the word. Each time the black hole duffle has come through like a champ. The numerous different size categories means that you can either use one as a carry-on (ca. 40L) or as that awesome massive bag to transport large bulk checked items (ca. 60 to 120L). Although Patagonia has yet to figure a way to keep TSA from rumbling through your junk, they at least provide a tough durable bag to help you carry your stuff to your final destination. My favorite feature has to be the large top opening that allows you to pack/access your gear in a very organized manner. You can both fit large items in as well as see all that you have pack in a pretty convenient top opening. This has been really helpful when I use the 40L bag as a carry on. The large opening means it is easy to organize my equipment as well as easily access stuff I put on top. This is important during the security checks as it allows me to quickly pull out things like computers and solar batteries (all items that the TSA wants to x-ray separately). Inevitably it is not the bag that makes the trip but rather the destination and the gear you get to carry during various adventures. But with that said these bags are durable, tough, and well constructed. Be it baggage handlers worldwide or chicken filled dusty buses on back roads, these bags are up to the task

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Standard of Duffles Black Hole Duffles are lighter than most duffles of similar size, much appreciated when dragging them in a hurry from concourse B - C. Durability is excellent and optional padded shoulder straps are a welcome option. Excellent product at a good value!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ultimate Adventure Bag I bought this bag in fall of 16 to use on a bucketlist trip to Alaska. It was the perfect size to fit all my gear for camping and hiking for the week. I am 5'3" 150 and probably could fit 2 of me in this bag. The straps had me a little confused at first as how to attach them but once I figured it out it really is simple. This bag was basically in the bottom of an airplane or on the back of a wet pickup for a week straight and not only did my stuff stay dry but there were no signs of wear on the bag by time I got it home. The only downside to this bag is that because it is so big it is easy to go over the weight limit if you are bringing it on a plane. For someone as short as me it was also difficult/ heavy to carry. If I did the same trip again I'd probably get the 90L and bring another separate bag to make up for the lost space.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It is awesome overall, but the backpack straps I really love it, and everything good that people say its totally true. However, I got this duffel because the option of using it as a backpack and at least for this size I have to say that isn't comfortable at all. It seems that it really needs a sternum strap and hip strap as well, something to give more stability while using it as backpack.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just great... I bought this bag for when i get shipped out for work for a week plus. Its fill and forget and its wonderful. Its made of a material that seems very durable and as we all know, a great way to confirm that is to check the bag at the airport. Held up great! I can put in all kinds of stuff and then i can fold over a suit bag and through it on top and check only one bag. AND THEN... when not in use it folds into its pocket and takes up almost no space. Another winner...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another solid Black Hole duffel I already have the 45L bag that I use for weekend trips but got this 120L one to take on a guided MTB trip to Iceland. It held everything I needed: a week's worth of clothes and gear, including jackets, shoes, a helmet, spare tools, food and a hydration pack. Sure, the bag was heavy but the backpack straps helped to evenly distribute the load. I was also grateful for the bag's construction and materials, which kept my stuff protected from getting wet and survived being thrown in a trailer with the gear from the 7 other people on the trip.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light and Durable for Long-Distance Travel This big Patagonia Black Hole Duffel Bag was perfect for my daughter as she headed off to teach in Europe for two years. She had to fit everything she needed into two bags, so we needed one that wouldn't weigh a lot when checking in at the airport. It was great. She had her rolling duffel that she could pull and then this big Black Hole Duffel went on her back like a backpack. She was able to get through the airport in Kosova very easily, at the start of her big adventure.
