We recently discovered that certain styles of the Capilene® Cool Daily and the Tropic Comfort product lines do not meet the 50+ UPF (Ultraviolet Protection Factor) rating we claimed for them. They still offer solid UV protection—it’s just not as much as advertised. If you own one of these shirts, click below for more information.Learn More

Super durable and breathable hardshell!
This jacket fits great on me. It's quite breathable for a hardshell and so far keeps all the rain out! My only complaint would be that the sleeves are a smidge too long for me and the hood is a little roomy (helmet compatible) and makes it hard to see if I'm not wearing a helmet or hat under it, but that helmet compatibility makes that a... Spendy, but totally worth it for wind/rain/snow/slurpie wx
I'm thrifty and this was very expensive. I've looked at similar jackets for years after I moved from dry cold (-55ºF) to wind-lashed mild (10ºF but 40mph winds); my arctic puffy collection needed a hard shell. This jacket worked with a down sweater and a thin wool T-shirt, worked with a R1 hoody too. It held up to horizontal 25 mph sleet/... Read Moregrauple/snirt. I stayed warm, but not humid. It's a tad noisy, but geez, so was the howling wind. Good pockets, well-placed, pit-zips appreciated, adjustable hood works w/bike helmet and thick ponytail. No complaints. I wear this jacket for daily walks in the Washington rain and love it. Ive also used it for skiing. This jacket breaths and keeps me dry. I wish the zipper pulls were more substantial; its difficult to find and grab the zipper pulls while wearing gloves. I purchased chartreuse and its very visible; I love it. Crash, abrasion, and blood
We knew we didn't need this jacket. We just had a baby so we couldn't go anywhere that the baby couldn't tolerate. But I still got this jacket for my wife because we want to simplify to a one-jacket system and I still dream one day we could take our kid to hike to Yosemite Point in the snow. Well, in 10 years, hopefully. After the ja... Read Morecket arrived, me and my wife toke the 11-month old baby out for a 5-min ride to a park nearby on a sunny 67F day to test this jacket's fit. Can't get safer than that, right? Oh boy I was wrong. At a cross, to avoid a car, my wife crashed her bike. She felt to the ground elbow first. The 40d jacket took the blunt of the impact and stayed intact, even though my wife's elbow started to bleed since she only wore a tshirt under the jacket. Surely we won't be intimidated by this small accident so we kept riding to the park. 10 minute later, my wife started to feel dizzy and actually blacked out for a bit. We lay this expensive new jacket on the ground and let her lie on it. Luckily, she started to gain some color a few minutes later, and we managed to ride back home, and her jacket still looked like new after I dusted it off. What we learnt today? She actually like the jacket for its toughness and smoothness when wearing directly to skin. And it's inside is not as cold to touch as her other raincoats. I hope she decide to always wear this jacket even on the shortest ride in the future. Always get the best protection you could.
Pricey, DRY, and worth every penny
I live in New England, and I purchased this to expand my outdoor activity days during the pandemic. While I once dreaded rainy days... I now get excited when it rains - because it means that I have the opportunity to wear this shell. Impeccable quality and design. The hood proportions and adjustments are A+, even without a helmet. Keeps me happy a... Read Morend dry.
LOVE all the new features
I decided to upgrade my rain gear and boy howdy is this jacket the bomb. Love the new features - pockets, pit zips, color, hood that accommodates helmets or whatever. Thank you for bringing back pink. I wore my rain gear on a 7 day horseback pack trip where it rained for 6 days and I was the only person on the trip who was dry and warm. I normally ... I love this jacket- have been in several pounding rainstorms since receiving it, worked wonderfully. Sleeves are long enough but not too long. Room for a fleece jacket underneath, but it’s not baggy. I had my last “big” Patagonia rain jacket for many many years before the seams began to leak- and it still looks great. I hope this one does as well it better!
Although I loved the color of this jacket the fit was not for me. I have very long arms which is why I love Patagonia but this jacket was just too big all over, including an oversized hood. I will try a different style.

Can't control the weather.
I've been on the lookout for rain ever since I got my jacket and am full of confidence that it will function well. I have never been let down by Gore Tex or Patagonia. It's pretty packable though it doesn't fold into one of its pockets. I found an old stuff sack which works just fine. The construction is excellent which I would expec... Read Moret at the price. Love the extra long armpit zippers. Love the back which reaches down a bit over my bum for kneeling and reaching or just bending over. The only downside is its noisy crackling when you move. I can live with it because [I think] it's due to being made out of recycled plastic and I'm all for that. Patagonia is an industry leader in recycling and responsible manufacturing, even giving information about where the product is made. They also just signed on to participate in the worldwide climate strike in 3 weeks. This matters to me and I appreciate their stance on product repair protecting public lands. I always look at their products first while analyzing where I'll eventually buy.

Tried to just use it for ski touring, but I end up using it for everything. The biggest appeal is the weight to durability ratio, in my opinion. And the absolute fearlessness about weather. On ski descents I wear this over my nano air hoodie (also M), and on days closer to 0 deg my light down jacket fits under it too. On windy cols or mtn tops I p... Read Moreut my fitz roy parka (L) over it all and I feel pure, impenetrable warmth. That system has been reliable and comfortable for me the last two seasons of Montana skiing and two very cold BC hut trips; I won't tweak anything for next year. Pros: The hood fits over my big head/pile of hair/helmet, love how high the collar goes, inside of collar/neck doesn't scratch my face or suffocate me, its lightweight (no 2-way zipper or extra pockets) and durable, I can sloppily put my skins inside and not tear the fabric, it is the only shell I've had that doesn't tare or snag when skiing through thick trees or the weird shrubby-low-elevation-where-is-the-truck? exits. 2018 version of this I had was pink (I never wear pink but that color is rad) and apparently I was very easy to find (sent it back due to defect after wearing it for a year, had the chance to buy something else with the refund, and bought it again; got the blue, which is also very nice). Excellent jacket.
Pretty sure this amazing jacket is made of unicorn skin
I bought an earlier version of this jacket a couple of years ago, to use for backcountry ski touring and lift skiing here in the Sierra Nevada, where our temperatures are all over the place, and when it snows, it SNOWS. I have spent days skinning uphill in dumping snow and swirling wind, hood up, with only the arm vents open, to find myself only mi... Read Moreldly damp after several runs, at the end of the day - this jacket breathes incredibly well. I got it a bit large so I can layer a thin puffy underneath for colder days. The hood fits snugly and is easy to adjust. I have broad shoulders and long arms but the jacket fits properly in those areas, with no binding up. The pockets are roomy and in the right places. It is light-weight and packs well, without being bulky. It is probably the most expensive piece of gear I have, but I have found it to be worth every penny. Highly recommended!
Awesome Fit and Function
This jacket is totally waterproof which is super important for PNW skiing and outdoor adventures. The fit is true to size and looks decent for time around town, but really the function is the best part - hood fits well around a ski or climbing helmet, jacket packs down small to easily shove in your pack, and it's actually waterproof (really). ... Disappointed with the accuracy
I was disappointed when this arrived to find that it was paper thin and just a shell. The description was incredibly misleading along with the alt images on the product page.
